September 23, 2008 Cross Country Off to Carbondale           EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's and women's cross country team compete in their final away meet before its first home meet of the season.           The Saluki Invitational is Saturday in Carbondale, the 8,000-meter men's race starts at 10:00 a.m. followed by the 5,000-meter women's race at 10:45 a.m.           SIUE is coming off the Illinois Intercollegiates. Kayla Brown (Petersburg) finished fourth with a time of 18 minutes, 22 seconds in the 5,000 meter race. The next top women's runner was Kelly Flounders (Homer Glen), finishing 61st with a time of 20:10.           On the men's side Kyle Cameron (East Moline) took 36th overall with a time if 26:12 helping the Cougars as a team finishing 11th in the Illinois Intercollegiates. Coming in 68th place was freshman Marc Amarillas (Quincy) finishing with a 26:55.           "We look to keep building on the success at this year's meets," Assistant Coach Eileen McAllister said.           This weekend the Cougars take part of the Saluki Invitational where Brown finished first with a time of 18:28.60. Cameron finished last year with a 15th place finish at 26:56.19.           "I am looking for Kayla to keep finishing races strong again this week," McAllister said.                               -siue cougars-
