November 27, 2006 SIUE Men’s Golf Signs McCarty, Link          The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men’s golf team added two recruits this fall.          Neal McCarty (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) and Tyler Link (Springfield) will join the Cougar men's golf team for the 2007-2008 season.          SIUE Coach Kyle Viehl said he expects both to be strong players for the Cougars.          During his high school career, McCarty had a nine-hole scoring average of 35.1 and shot rounds of 73-71 to place him 11th in the Arizona high school state tournament. McCarty also has competed in the American Junior Golf Association tournaments all over the country.          Link, who currently plays for Springfield (Ill.) College, was a junior college national qualifier and the medalist at the Region 24 preview.          Link also placed third at the SCI Invite in Springfield and placed fourth at the Kaskaskia Invite.          “Both of these players are expected to have a high impact for us next season,” said Viehl.
