SIUE Men's Golf Inks Two For 2008-09 Season
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men’s golf team has added to more recruits for the 2008-09 season.
Jeffry Harrison (Waterloo) and Tony Ross (Lockport) have signed letters of intent to play for the Cougars.
Harrison is four-year captain and No. 1 golfer for Gibault Catholic High School. During his high school career, he was a two-time winner of the All-Catholic Alton Marquette Tournament, a three-time Illinois High School Association State Finals participant, and the third-ranked golfer in the Metro Area for 2007.
For SIUE head coach Kyle Viehl, Harrison should have what it takes to compete at the collegiate level. “He is one of the top players in the area. He plays a very competitive summer schedule and understands what it takes to become a better player," said Viehl.
Ross, currently attending Springield College, has won the Logan Cup Invite, placed third at the Priview Tourney, and placed 13th in the Illinois state junior college tourney.
"He is a a very hard worker and has shown steady improvement with his game," said Viehl
