SIUE Women's Soccer Adds Two New Cougars
Katie Yearian (Waterloo) and Elizabeth Ball (Troy) have signed National Letters of Intent to play women's soccer this fall for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Coach Lynda Bowers said the addition of these two players adds speed to the lineup.
Yearian scored 27 goals as a junior and recently scored her 60th career prep goal for Waterloo High School. She has been a three-time Most Valuable Player, a three-time All-Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) first team selection and an honorable mention All-Metro performer.
"She's very quick and a good finisher," Bowers said of Yearian., who plays club soccer for Team Olympian. "She'll contend for a spot at forward or wing midfield for us."
Ball, who plays club soccer for J.B. Marine, is a defender who has helped Triad High School to the state championships. She has played on three regional championship teams and three MVC championship teams. Ball also has been honored on the MVC second team and as an MVC honorable mention player.
"She has played almost every position on the field," said Bowers. "She is playing sweeper this spring, and that's a spot we're looking to fill."
