Four Cougars Named All-GLVC
Four Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's soccer players earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors at a breakfast ceremony Saturday.
Kristine Armstrong (St. Peters, Mo.) and Kelly Dill (Florissant, Mo.) were named to the first team. Kayla Fromme (New Berlin) and Lindsey Kampwerth (Highland) were honored on the second team.
Armstrong,a junior, has been SIUE's leading scorer all season with 12 goals and two assists. Her five game-winning goals is the most by a Cougar since All-American Janece Friederich posted six in the 1997 season.
Both Armstrong and Dill have started all 21 games this season. Dill, a senior, has scored one goal and added three assists at midfield.
Fromme moved positions this season from the backfield to the midfield. The move resulted in five goals for the junior.
Kampwerth earned All-GLVC honors as a back after scoring one goal and two assists for the season.
SIUE, 17-4, plays in the championship game of the GLVC Tournament for the first time on Saturday. The Cougars will face off with Northern Kentucky in a noon EST contest.
