September 9, 2008 Scores Cougars Open Season with Win          The Southern lllnois University Edwardsville women's tennis team opened up the season with a 6-1 victory at the SIUE Tennis Courts against Lindenwood.          SIUE, 1-0, won five of six singles matches in defeating the Lions. SIUE's Carli Connors downed Ivone Gadala-Maria 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Laura Horning topped Katie Harris 6-2, 6-1 in No. 3 singles. The Cougars also picked up straight set victories from Ali Wulfers, Kelsey Laird, and Stephanie Clark.          SIUE singles No. 1 player Maggie Boeckman was defeated by Lindenwood's Allison Gilles 6-2, 6-0.          The Cougars will travel to Macomb to participate in the Western Illinois Hinds-Kellogg Classic Friday and Saturday.                   -siue cougars-
